Husband-and-wife-team Tobia and Afra Scarpa are major icons of Italian design.
Afra (1937-2011) & Tobia (1935-) Scarpa both studied at the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia, the son of famous architect-designer Carlo Scarpa, first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini.
In the 1960s, they opened their own design office.
The couple designed for various major Italian and international companies like Flos, Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International. Their iconic designs have earned them numerous awards.
